Before you proceed to fill out an application form, there are a few things you should know:
<Sparda> is looking for exceptional players who are mature and highly competitive but understand progression is priority.
Writing your application - Basic expectations
Show some sort of pride in your application. You should understand the weight it holds. It is your first contact with our guild and first impressions tend to last.
Our needs/What we expect from you
We're looking for consistency from applicants. Attendance and competency is key. If you miss random days, show up late, or have to log early, we're not the guild for you. Think about what you’re dedicating yourself to before applying.
We want players who learn quickly, do not make the same mistake twice, multitask well, are attentive to their surroundings, and are able to quickly grasp the bigger picture of a given encounter, rather than just their class-specific narrow role. TLDR: Don't stand in the fire, don’t come unprepared to fights, and don’t suck.
While people who enjoy PvP are welcome, PvE progression should be your priority when it comes down to it. It should be what you build your character around, and the deciding factor in choices you make regarding gear and spec.
We do not accept or deny you based on your gear only, but you need to do a mental gear check to evaluate if you have what it takes to raid with us.
You must have reasonable gear, and must have maximized its value through gemming and enchantments. We don't expect applicants to be in the best possible gear, however, we do want to see evidence that you understand what kind of gear is important for your class/spec, and you're willing to put in the time and effort to get the most out of the gear that's available to you. (i.e. Badge gear, heroics, quests, and possibly even pvp)
If you show up with unenchanted/misenchanted pieces of gear, and low-quality gems/unsocketed items, our first impression of you will not be so good, to put it nicely!
We value players that put effort into getting every possible upgrades outside of raid scene.
Raid Times: SUN to THU, 12:30AM-4:30AM server time.
Invites for raids go out at 12:00AM EST(Server time). We expect EVERYBODY to be logged on and ready by that time. We start raids when we fill them and we end raids at roughly 4:30AM EST.
What to expect from us
To see end game content and access to all gear available within the game. To raid with other members of like minds. Raid with raiders who are prepared and willing to do whatever it takes to make raids smooth, fast, efficient and fun.
Recruit Process
The recruitment process generally takes up to 4-5 weeks minimum. All possible recruits will do a minimum of 3 trials before proceeding to the recruit period. Player transfer will be guilded immediately and perform their trial in guild. Players on Gilneas will come to trials unguilded. During each trial you will be monitored on various factors such as; ability to follow instructions, reactions to certain situations, overall performance, knowledge of your class and knowledge of the boss fights. Monitoring will continue throughout the entire recruit period, but first impressions are the most lasting

.
Due to the nature of the game, you will not be in every raid. Some fights are typically stacked towards certain classes, and our primary goal is to succeed. Keep in mind that we also tend to cycle players in during raids. This means you may be benched for some fights, and then asked to come in for others. This may be based off a variety of reasons including connection issues, loot, performance, attendance, and fight requirements. You will still earn dkp and attendance for the night if you are on and ready to go the whole time.
Champions have priority on loot over Gallants and Recruits, however you still earn just as much DKP as raiding members do. Upon promotion to a raiding member status, you have just as much priority on loot.
Don't let it fool you: despite playing the game in a friendly, laid back mood we aim to be ruthlessly efficient when it comes to raiding. It takes a certain kind of player to take a video game seriously. We're this exact kind.
Your Resposibilities
You must have vent installed and working. But PLEASE, if you're not leading the raid or have something really important to say, shut the hell up. Raid channel is not the place to chit chat while we are raiding. Keep vent clear during raid instructions, talk only when necessary.
You must be familiar with the fights in Wrath of the Lich King. While our strategies don't necessarily match standard methods for killing bosses verbatim, you must be at least aware of what to expect on any fight you will encounter. A good site for getting familiar with these fights is BossKillers.
Last but not least... if you can't stay connected, you can't raid with us. We already have way too many people who can't stay online >.> i.e. One is too many!
Special note regarding server transfer applicants
We welcome applications from players with characters on other servers who are interested in transferring to Gilneas. However, you will not receive special treatment just because you transferred. If you wish to apply as a server-transfer applicant, understand that you'll be running the risk of not being accepted in the end.
If you plan to do this, we strongly recommend you get in touch with one of our officers before you transfer so we can talk about your character and at least get to know you a bit before you transfer. (We can't promise we'll guild you, but if we talk a bit and decide we probably won't guild you, we can save you some money and hassle.)
Now you know what to expect, and what we expect from you. If you still think we're the guild for you, good luck with your application!
If you still have questions about us, do not hesitate to contact one of our officers for further discussion.
Thanks for the interest, and for reading through all of this.
